lol
well ive came to my sences my truck is still a rarit cause mine is in the us and those are in candada sooooo take that.....
Yes it does. I never noticed them b4. They are on the back part of the metal piece, where it starts to angle down, so you can't really see the holes looking down at the trailer ball piece.
BTW
Not all 93's have EGR. EGR was fitted halfway thru the model year.
Also, and check me on this, but 91-92's did not come with the deer print wheels. Only the throwing stars.
93's and 94's came with either wheel style. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.
whoa yall brought this back to life...ohh well im am renaming my truck its no longer an explorer XL but now a LI-XL only few know its true meaning.....
hehe. That was one of my posts from 2 years ago!! I think someone told me the same back then, too. I have since seen 91-92s with different wheels. And I've since seen 93-94's with throwing star wheels. I've seen those wheels you speak of...with the small round holes. Pretty neat.
My `92 XL is about as bare bones as it gets. Manual Trans, 2WD, no Rear Wiper/Defog, basic sound system, no maplights, no lighted visors, no cruise. The ONLY option it has is a Console w/ single cupholder (since fixed!). It didn't even have a Hood Insulator Pad, or a sound insulator that goes under the glovebox/dash, both of which I added yesterday.
I don't think XLT really stands for anything. It just wouldn't make sense if it did.

Oh, I forgot to add, it had Steel Wheels with the imitation alloy hubcaps like were shown earlier in this thread. I still have a couple hub caps left, but the rims rusted out early on in life, and were replaced with the standard aluminum alloys. I guess you guys are calling them throwing stars.
Here's what I know, Well there were two standard aluminum alloys, the throwing stars, and the deer prints. Most 1st gen have either of these. Not sure if the deer prints came out on 91-92. There were the "small hole with center cap" wheels you speak of, and finally, there was a fourth, an aluminum alloy wheel with small holes around it. These seem to have been a lot less common than the throwing stars and deer prints. Perhaps Crankcase can correct me or elaborate..
Ok...I assembled all the types for 91-94 in one pic......
1 1991-1992 15X7 Alloy "Bullethole" rim
2 1991-1992 15X6 Steel rim with Beauty ring
3 1993-1994 15X6 Steel rim (with 92 ring on it...not supposed to have one)
4 1991-1992 2WD Rim
5 1991-1994 15X7 Alloy "Throwing Star" rim
6 1993-1994 15X7 Limited Alloy rim
7 1993-1994 15X7 Steel Rim
8 1993-1994 15X7 Alloy "Deer Print" rim
So...the ONLY one available the whole way through was the 5. Throwing star.....
The Bullet hole rim was actually older than 1991, and was used on some Rangers, it was replaced by the Deerprint one in 1993.
The #2 Steel rim also dates back to about 1989, and was also used in smaller sizes on aerostars and Rangers. it was replaced in 1993 by the #7 rim. Both were used mostly on base(XL) models.....
The limited rim was a brand new design for the new Limited in late, late 93....
The 2 different steel rims were also used as the spare tire rim in all years....
The 93-94 steel wheel was later chromed and appeared as a 95+ wheel with a chrome center cap.....
My 92 came with the tupperware rockers, mooonroof, manual trans with push button 4x4 auto hubs, 3 rear windows factory tint mirror look, and it still looks good. But I hate when people mistake it with a blazer or jeep. I look at the grills to see if its older or not, that it. Is there a such thing as a 2wheel drive 1st gen? all I see are 4x4's around here
Lucky me when I got my ex they had 98 explorer rims on them, the 3 spoke chrome looking ones
