How did you clean your engine??

LOL!

Usually those intakes are sort of oxidized. I pulled the one off my Mustang and cleaned, repainted, and then cleared it- it was so much easier to keep clean after that. If you clean the intakes as they are, they tend to get splotchy, and that will drive you more nuts than grease.

I really don't want to pull it.. it seems like a complicated long process... If I ever pulled it.. I would probably put a spacer in.. I don't know... What can I do with it in place?

If you're only pulling the upper intake off, it isn't so bad if you wanted to paint it. Or, you can try cleaning it, but most likely it has a rough surface now, and doesn't lend so well to cleaning.

You might try some steel wool... I've heard from some people that have done that be pleased with the results and unify the color. I haven't done that yet though.

I thought ours were supposed to have a rough surface?..=\

Armor All Everything it makes it shiny:D:D:D looks good too;)

Is it safe to use on an engine though? And would it get rid of all that crap on mine?
Probably not, huh? It would just make it shiny, if it was clean...

yes armor all is safe for your engine. As for the shiny part, let me specify, it will make all your rubber hoses, and plastic parts shiny, it does nothing to metal, as for that i first use dish soap its a degreaser in itself, second i use those cheap bottles of steam cleaner you can pick up at your local auto parts dealer, just make sure you capture all the runnoff because its considered hazardous waste here in California. (i just take the water to the gas station and the dispose of it the same way they do used motor oil.) Finally with a new bottle of armor all, and a new roll of paper towels i get to work makeing everything super shiny:D

i should take pics of my engine bay its hella dirty and flithy you guys will be suprised on how dirty it is.

Yes that simple green works, i used some on mine before i painted it works well on all materials,
yea bra' custom "tweed" engines are tight, espicially with blue

Make sure you just get the motor a lil warm first, jus a lil
and blasting it with the power washer while "hot" is not good, and you could risk gettin water in the intake...

Why pay shipping? Just purchase Pig Spit at any Harley shop locally.

:wavey:oh, sorry didn't know you could purchase it at a harley shop. Well, considering there are no motorcycle shops anywhere near me as far as i know that would be a little difficult to perform.

Southern California and no bike shops?

Don't know i never looked because i don't own a motorcycle, i just find it easy to go to target because its about 3 miles from my house:D

There probably is several motorcycle shops, i just don't know where they are, or do i have time, or the care to look for one. I have a Ford Explorer Not a Motorcycle:p:

Any one have any tips for washing mud off the engine?

Come on L4- you know better. The day after you clean everything, it'll rain, snow, or hurricane here, just for the express purpose of pissing you off. :p:

This damn state has been doing it to me for years now... :D

I use Simple Green and one of those little dish washing brushes LINK to get in all the small spots then some rags and presto works like a charm.
