How do I Disengage 4wd auto

Just recently bought a 99 explorer with the 4wd auto feature and i was wondering if there was a way to disengage the auto four wheel drive. I read on this website a while back that i could do it and someone posted a wiring diagram showing how to do it, but i could not download it. so if anyone knows what i need to do and knows if it will hurt my car any please let me know.
