I'm not sure what you are asking?

You get to the outer half of the axle shaft by removing the rotor and spindle and pulling the outer part of the axle shaft through the steering knuckle. The inner half of that axle shaft has a c-clip inside the diff which has to be removed to get that portion of the axle shaft out.

This question sounds kind of familiar......have you already pulled the front axle shaft and now possibly you are trying to figure out how to remove the stub shaft??

If so you will have to drop the carrier because the stub shaft is retained with a C-clip just like the rear axles are on the 8.8.

If you would like to know how to reassemble without reusing the C-clip let me know I can tell you how so you won't have to drop the carrier each time you want to replace bearings or seals on the front carrier.

C-clip? is that a fat bolt? I didnt take off the spindle, but I took off a bolt. The bolt was close to the end of the axle closer to the passenger side, the axle with the diff. I also took off behind that axle to get to the rivets I have to cut out to put in the lift. This is all in the front of the car. I hope you can follow what I'm trying to say, thanks.

Ohhh. Now I see. You're trying to drop the traction beam (sometimes called the I-beam). When you said "axle" I immediately thought of the axle shafts. I personally haven't dropped those, but I'm sure someone has. Do you have a manual to work from? A manual would give you the basic steps to remove it.

So you are attempting to install a lift?

The driver's side drop bracket (for the passenger side axle) will need the rivots grinded off and punched out, then the bracket will just bolt on. The drop bracket for the passenger side (drivers axle with the diff) will bolt into the factory location with only one hole to drill, depending on the manufacture of the lift.
