the bumper: replace the bumper brackets, or just get a junkyard bumper

The hitch: do you mean the reciever, where you put the drop down in, is pointing down towards the ground?!?!? if so, your frame is probably Fubar'ed that happened to mine, but not bad. that frame will bend long before a hitch will lol

for pictures, i use www.ImageShack.us go there and upload the pics, then copy/paste the "embed picture url for forums" here

Did you loosen the bumper mounting bolts before you tried to jack up the bumper?

I think he's talking about the bumper ball hitch mounting plate as being vertical...

yes the bumper hitch plate where the ball hitch connects to. its bent vertically. i'm pretty sure ill be able to get the bumper straight but will i be able to somehow bend the hitch plate back in place?

You don't plan on towing with the vehicle ever I hope. If you don't you can heat the bumper up a little bit a pound it back into place. The other method you can try is taking a rail road jack and pushing up on the bumper and letting the weight of the truck help a bit. Either method is going to effect the bumper where it will be weaker at the crease.

That plate is hard as hell to bend back level. If it's that bent up, I'd pull one from the junkyard- 4 bolts and it's yours.

o i forgot about the little bumper tow plate, i was thinking reciever hitch that bolts to the frame, as i just fixed mine lol... i would say grab a junk yard bumper, i think i paid 60 for a nice chrome one a while back for my other explorer. once that metal gets bent, it will keep bending, and getting weaker each time.... so if you do fix yours, just dont town with it....

well yea i will be towing .. and enough said guys. i think ill ditch that idea and take a trip to picknpull. thanks alot. much appreciated

While you're there, you can probably grab a hitch too, instead of using hte bumper ball. Can't imagine you'd have major corrosion issues out there, so it should be a pretty straight forward removal. The hitch will be 4 bolts as well. I think the larger bolt is a 21mm? I think 19mm and 21mm? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
