how can i improve horsepower and torque with little or no cost? I've seen the pvc intakes, I am getting a cone filter next week, it is a stock explorer, except for a vortex blade in the intake. It has a 3.73 gear ratio, I take little ricers and other light trucks off the line all the time. I'm not sure about my exhaust though, most explorers i see even the V8s have this little dinky exhaust pipe coming out the back, but mine has a beefier pipe, and comes out and down on the passenger side.

homemade/junkyard turbo kit trust me/ 6-7psi you'll be a happy camper...all can be had for less than 1500 dollars if you know what to look for

i'd rather not turbo

to do that i would have to redo all of my seals and gaskets, not lookin to do that for a few thousand miles.

well cheap power right now would be a flowmaster muffler, intake and tb spacer...

lol

reminds me of oz from american pie haha

good deal

i plan on putting in a magnaflow muffler, and a cone filter, a mass air flow sensor from the 5.0 mustang, along with the pvc intake, another question is there another throttle body i can get, say off of a 5.0 and it fit? If i can't get another tb, then i'll get a spacer. what about headers? what do they run? what kind of improvement would i see if i do all of the above? what about without the headers?

you maybe able to fabricate a fitting for a throttle body from a 5.0 explorer to make it fit that would be bigger than the ohv not sure if it looks the same though...as far as headers, jba makes some...but here are the tb and header options at explorerexpress.com

TB 219.95

Headers 580.95

hope this is what your looking for... as far as a tb spacer not sure where to get one of those for the X.

comp cam good 4 lo end power good towin cam

best way to increase power....push your right foot down a little further :D Of course, do this too much, and it's not really cheap

HaHaHa Thats a good one, and very simple and easy to do:D

I have bad lifters I can't do it too much until I rebuild :( lol (Right foot mod that is) haha thats a great one...

lol that was cool tb's are good to do you can port your heads dont polish them tho.... the headers on explorers arent that good but they are worth it. they can burn up your starter tho

I've Researched

I'm not gonna do the custom air tube, i'm gonna do the 5.0 MAF, a 65mm TB off of the 4.6 liter F-150, and a cone filter for now, then the muffler later

on a 6 cylinder? do they fit? i didn't know that

i think the 4.6 throttle body is for us sohc guys, might have a time getting that one to work. maybe an electric driven water pump and fan might be a cheap source of power.

they said it would work in the maf to tb custom air intake tube sticky thread.

they said you could take a tb off of the 87 to 94 5.0, or the tb off of the 4.6 litre 87 to 94 grand marquis, or f-150, they didn't come with the sohc, they had ohv.... i think.
