How Do I Lift A 98 XLT X 4x4!

Hi all, just in case your wondering, I still have my X. However one of my students wants to lift his X and it is a 98 X 4x4. He has found that there are no kits available at this time, so if you wouldn't mind let me know where to get the stuff necessary to lift it. Thnx.

Which way are you looking to go professor? Body, Suspension? 2", 9"?

Oh ya, forgot to mention my new part time job, I am now not only a ASE and Ford Master certified tech, I am also a part time instructor for LTI's engine performance course.

Back to the lift, so are there no aftermarket kits available to lift the front suspension??

i'm pretty sure superlift makes a 4" kit.

Superlift ($1500) and Trailmaster ($1400) both have 4" kits. Superlift being the superior kit. These can be made into a 5" kit by cranking the torsion bars up another 1" and doing a rear SOA instead of using the 4" lift springs supplied with the kits. I've read that you may be able to buy the front part of the Superlift kit for $1000 but that may be an urban legend.

Also, some have to get new driveshafts, some don't

From what I have searched here and elsewhere on the net his current options are, for suspension lift, as above, the 4" Superlift, 4" Trailmaster, or 1.5" to 2" torsion twist with shackles or OME springs in the back. Or Performance Accessories makes a 98 ranger body lift in 2" and 3" that will fit.
