I need to replace the whole rear wiper arm on my X. It's paint is worn off, & I have a new one to put on. The manual says to cycle it a few times, ending up in the rest position, then put it in the service position then relese the little clip, & pull straight off. Well, That doesn't work. My wiper arm does not go back all the way. I pressed the little clip, but the arm will not move. Any suggestions on getting it off??

Thanks

I had to pry the S**t out of my rear arm to remove it.

I'd also like to know how to get that thing off. Mine looks like crap and I really want to paint it, but can't figure out how to get the stupid thing off the truck.

Well, I got mine off(not purposely).
Some fat kid walking around me ran into it, then another fat kid ran into it next week and it fell off.

All I can say is LOL. Send those kids this way. I redid my front wiper arms last year and would like to redo the rear one now.

Hey SSIKORA,

After you pried the s**t out of your rear wiper, did it have any problems?

Nope....i just used pliers to pull...and a screwdriver to pry...it comes off....it is just a real bear to get off.

Sounds like i'll have to use my bear strength to get this sucker off. GRrrrrrrrrrr.... LOL!

You got something against fat kids/people? This post sounds a litle angry...

Hey...take it easy man. I'm sure Warform didn't mean anything for real. Sometimes it's just a figure of speech.

I'm a fat bugger myself with a 39 inch waistline, weighing in at about 200lbs. Hehe :-)

I don't have anything against fat people, I was just describing them.
One of them was my friend... I just don't understand how my friend and some stranger could just walk into it and get caught on it.

It's pretty simple on my '91 Sport so I would think it's about the same on your '94.

Look at the attachment point where the arm comes out and you should see a little "lever" in there. That's what's applying the tension to hold it on there. I just swung the arm out, stuck a pair of needle nose pliers in there, grabbed the lever, and pulled the arm towards me and it popped right off. It was easier than finding a couple of large kids to walk into it.

I just had to do this a couple of times to get it back on there straight after getting it back from the shop (repairs from a deer - truck accident). They painted the wipers for free but put it back on slightly out off kilter.

Yeah that's what the book says. Problem is the arm doesn't swing out. It will only swings back a little bit. It's not like the fronts.

Better yet, the 95+ models don't even have that lever you're talking about.

Jason94sport,
That's odd becase mine does look just like a smaller copy of the fronts. I guess it could be an age or Mazda difference.

Anyway, I would think you should still be able to fit the pliers in there, pull that lever, and at the same time pull the wiper arm towards you. I only swung mine out because it made it a little easier to move.

Sure don't, that's why I can't figure out how they come off. Guess I'll have to find a couple of 'large' kids to help me out. ;)
