welcome

There are only 3 bolts holding the Rock Arm assembly onto the head. Are you having issues taking those 3 bolts off?

thank you for the welcome. i took the bolts out but the shaft wont come out of the bracket

There is nothing else holding it. Just 3 bolts that hold the rocker arm assembly to the pedastals. One of ours just lifted off. The other one I used a pry bar to break it free. My guess is, its just "stuck".

no i got the whole assembly come off and punched the pin out. the rocker came off next is the pedastal and that is stuck on the shaft.

ohhh.. so you already have the rocker arm assembly off the head. Now you are trying to take the rocker arm assembly apart?

I never did figure how to do that. I looked for a few minutes and never went any farther.

Yeah, they are on there pretty good. If I remember, I just wrapped a rag around the center one, put it in a vice and twisted to outside two off. I don't think you can pull them straight off, you have to rotate them to get them to move. Make sure you get them back on with the oil holes lined up correct also. The shafts feed oil to the rockers and the three mounts have oil passage from the heads.

I had to change about four rockers. Just a warning, I had bad luck with TRW rockers (bought at napa). I had to return two and one of the replacements was bad also. The machining was off making the pad too shallow and/or crooked. You can buy OEM ford parts online from several dealers so I would buy OEM rockers if I had to do it over.

Thank you, yeah i bought auto zone rockers and i ordered new push rods for it too. those sucker's are on there.

I don't know what it costs when you buy the parts like that, but you can get an entire Rocker arm assembly (2 assemblies) and new push rods from Delta Camshaft for $180 + your old ones (or pay the core charge). Its the f-40 kit.

They have hardened tips on the push rods and on the rockers.

its from them being tightened down to much and the round shaft becomes egg shaped,i would not reuse them because when you put your new ones one they will not spin freely or get scared up when trying to put them on.take them back and get a delta set it comes with everything you need and you wont have to worry about them locking up on you one day.

i wish i knew that before i ordered the new shaft because one shaft broke in half while the engine was running. and my friend works at autozone and gave me a discount for the rockers. i ordered the heavy duty push rods too.

Its the three pedestals that become out of round also, the rockers should be fine as long as they go on smooth and spin freely.there is a trick to help get them on but I can't remember if it was to freeze the shaft or pedestals or heat one or the other,I can't remember, just be careful not to nick or damage where the rockers go.

ive heard of freezing wrist pins before install i'll try that on these. thank you. cant wait to get this running 1300 later between new short block, heads, rockers, push rods and gaskets lol
