Problem. I have jacked up the body using the spring hanger as a jack point, tires are off the ground. Yet there is still to much pressure on the springs and the shocks seem to be maxed out so that anymore I lift it the shock raises the axle. I never had to take the shocks off to get these things on so what am I missing here?

let the tires rest on the ground...

Kubben,
Block the front tires.
Jack the Explorer up by the frame, where the leafs mount in front of the rear wheels.
Lift it just until the tires start to come off the ground.
Hope this helps...

I've tried that and there is still to much pressure.

lift it off the ground. get a diamond shaped jack..those for import sedan, place it at an angel there the top of the jack fits right at the bottom og the axle and turn it till it separraaates the spring from the chasis. that is what i did

I used a bottle jack between the spring and the frame. I jacked it up just enough to releive the pressure on the bolt so that I could push it out by hand. Keep your hands and face clear incase it slips. Have plenty of jacks and jack stands placed incase the bottle jack slips out of the spring. It never slipped on me, but if it did it probably would have had quite a lot of force.

Jack up the vehicle and then use a phillips screwdriver to push out the bolt by hitting it with a hammer. Once you have done that the screwdriver is in the bolts place. Now, pull out the screw driver and the spring pops up about an 1". Now you can install the stock shackles.

Thanks for the help guys. I got a bottle jack between the springs and frame and got it to work. I think my Add a Leafs are the reason it was under so much pressure even with the tires off the ground.

unbolt the shocks
