Starting to look for replacements Exhaust manifolds and I need a way of telling which head/intake my 97 5.0 has.

Anyone found good headers recently? I did a search and only found info regarding the discontinuation of FMS headers or extensive custom work to make your own.

Please help as I have a leaky manifold.

If your passenger side manifold has the exhaust recirculation tube coming off it and going back up to the intake, you have the Ps. There should also be a stamp in front of spark plug number one either saying "GT" or "GT40", or if they're Ps then "GT40P".

No one is making headers as of yet, but it seems like with all this interest it would be in someone's best interest to do so.

What shape are the exhaust outlets on each of thos heads. Thanks.

I think the only difference between the two really are the spark plug angles. I know they're pretty universal heads because I have the Gt40 headers on my P heads.

What did you want to know, Jed?

Cracked manifold

I am pretty sure that I have a cracked manifold. I hear a very noticeable "tick" while driving and it is RPM related. Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

From reading on here, it seems this is a common problem. The previous owner just spent $500+ to have one of the manifolds replaced at the dealership. It was the RH header (Driver's side), and I haven't had time to look into it further.

The passenger side is usually the one that goes. But often times its just a blown out gasket. The bolts tend to work loose resulting in a blow out. I'd invest in some locking bolts and decent gaskets (whether the manifold is cracked or not.

look on the heads. if it has a large GT stamped on it, its teh regular GT-40's. if it has GTP stamped on it, then its the GT-40p's. also, if you have an EGR tube on the passenger side manifold then you've got P heads.
