How do you remove a cowl off a first Gen?

One day I was working on my ex and when I tryed to close the hood it didn't close completely. So driving down a road at about 30MPH the hood swung open damaging the hood and cowl. The manual tells you how to do it for the second gens but not first. the hood will be easy but the cowl I'm lost. Can anybody tell me?

I thought it was welded in and not removable on first gens.

So I gotta get to a body shop, this might leave me broke. I wanna get it all repainted anyways the same mocha frost color it has. is going to Maaco to get the cowl fixed and the EX painted over a NO-NO?

Monmix I might have to take you up on that one day.. I need a few quarter panel dents pulled out.. Nothing like hitting a tree on the trails.. I think once I hit enough trees & stuff, I'll buy a slide hammer kit
