I have been trying to take out my buddy's driveshaft all day to replace the U-Joint, and so far luck has not been on my side. (97 Mountaineer)

First I took out the U-Joint side bolts (T-30 incase anybody wanted to know) and then the 6 bolts on the TC side. I have been yanking and banging on that all night, to no avail. Can someone show me where I'm supposed to pry or smack to get this thing out? It seems like every write up had a never-been-driven example that just slid out... What do you guys with 200,000 miles of stuck do to get it out?

Thanks guys.

I used a chisel on the flange side and it popped right off

Alright, I'm kind of confused on which part you are referring to as the flange.

As far as I could tell there was a retainer that the shaft itself goes into, which had the bolts in it. Behind that was a black (what I thought was rubber) bit, and then behind that is a metal piece that looks a lot like the one that the bolts were in.

From holding the bolts up to the joint, it looks like they make it all the way into the second bare metal piece, so when I was trying to pry, I was trying between the black part, and the second bare metal piece.

my t-case side only has for bolts and that is the flange that I'm referring to. You might have to remove the skid plate to get to it though. The front on mine is a double-cardon style though so there is another bearing in that, I just repacked that one and it was a pain to get it all back together
I think that the bolts were all twelve point maybe 10mm on the front and 13mm on the flange, not sure about that though, there was no rubber that I remember
