here is what you do

pull belt, alt., and ilder pully, its right there, not too hard to do.

A new radiator cap should be about $5.

As for the thermostat, I believe there are 3 bolts that hold the housing in place. Take off the bolts, remove old stat, pop in new stat. 10 minutes of work.

you don't have to pull anything out besides the t-stat housing. it's three bolts, one of them is a pain in the butt to get to but my beast hands fit in there so most other people's will. Have a bucket to catch the spillage or go ahead and do a flush if you have the time.

The only thing you might want to remove is the air intake tube. Unhook it at the air box and the throttle body. It makes it 100x easier to see what your doing.

Drain about 2 quarts of coolant out of the radiator, this will help prevent spillage. Other than that, undo 3 bolts, put in new thermostat and put everything back. No big deal.

How about the 5.0 V8?

you also have to burp the system after you out the coolant back in. the way i did it to refill it shake the car to get the big air bubbes out then run the car with the radiator cap off and the heat on until the water reached the base of the fill neck. and just chack again the next day to make sure that every thing is okay

pain in the @ss. ive done mine twice since ive owned it, once just the other day (stuck open). be prepared for massive amounts of swearing unless you have the hands of a 4 year old. its not hard to do, just hard to get to.

i invented 3 new swear words the other day doing mine, and am slowly introducing them to the general public.

Looks like I'll have to hire some child labor for the 30k tune up :D

Where is the thermostat on a 99 4.0 SOHC?

Right underneath the upper intake manifold for the SOHC, took me at least an hour to do mine. If you know where the upper radiator hose is, follow it back towards the center of the engine and it's hidden under there.

On front of motor, Has a big hose from the radiator.
