a few weeks ago, i'm glad you like em, i know i really do. You gonna come down here for anything this summer. You need to at least make teh trip to Car Craft and come check out all the trucks from our fordtruckworld chaper there (and the 3 from my family and friends club- mine, my bros escape and MikeKnotts explorer)
the more i modify and the older i get it seems the more i want it to look like it could be factory. Not sure what that means when i have so many modifications, but i want it all to look like it fits together as if it could be stock just from a way cooler car company than Ford really is. I guess i just want everything modded to the same level now.
on the ends i built them up with like 2-3 coats of glass and got it to span the gap, which was a big droopy mess that looked like it was considering falling on the ground in the next 15 minutes. so i used the tinfoil to hold it in place, and then folded the bottom lip of the tinfoil under to get that rolled curve at the bottom of the pan. When it dried i hit the back with more glass (a ton of it), then did the same on the front to get it as close to smooth as possible. when it was within .5" of smooth i started to use the long strand filler, got it perfectly flat with that, and then used bondo "ultimate" to fill the pinholes and stuff. really made it very strong and avoided using the lighter crappier fillers as much as possible.
hope i'm not the one you mean, i think mine's short enough right now. Except i only have listed about 1/50th of my mods. Reading a few other peoples signatures makes me really tempted to actually list ALL of mine in my signature (if i coudl remember them) I wonder if that would prove the point that everything really doesn't need ot be listed and your turn signal bulbs (etc.) don't count as modifications.
you probably have no idea what would happen to you if you had the opportunity to modify it at my place. little one car garage and what not, but enough tools to do whatever you want- short of weld
so it is a good thing you wont' have teh oportunity if your grades matter to ya
man chill out i wasnt talking bad about u i was just sayin. no need to be defensive. the rear bumper and sides are all that need to be welded. Ive only seen one (a good reason to want it) and that was on my freinds 98. Before that, I didnt even know about EU.com
i don't know if i was defensive or not, but i couldn't figure out why you'd mention that "i could just get one from exploer underground for like $300"
so i pointed out briefly the reasons that this one was better.
also, believe me if he had responded to my emails etc. i would have gone that route months ago because i do understand the advantages of steel.
now that i've done it though the advantagous of the glass are real too, such as ease of the back-up camera install etc.
and i'll be able to say i made it which always helps
i plan on having a book or two of all the build photos of my truck at shows.
ok sorry i didnt mean anything by it i wasnt talking about you when i made the post actually. i was talking about a solution for people with less "mechanical abilities". i think yours is awesome and hope mine looks half as good.
but anyways, on your paintjob, are you having it painted a different shade of white, or having the flames sprayed over the stock white?
