My question is how high can i lift my 2001 2wd for ranger edge before i get problems with my drive shaft angles?

My plans are to do a 3'' spindle lift with a add a leaf in the rear with new shocks then a inch of tortion twist in the front and a one inch block or shackle in the back is this possible im not to familiar with tortion bars or spindle lifts. I also cant find the info.

Thank you

a friend of mine has a 97 2wd ranger EX i think and hes got a 4 inch suspension lift and has had it for about 5 years with no problems.
other then him being a lousy driver....:D
but i would say if you went with a 4 inch lift then get deeper wheels and wider tires because he flipped his once turning right on red and clipped the curb, which sent him on the drivers door in the middle of an intersection...

Hmmm i had a 96 cherokee with 6.5'' of lift and 33s and never had a problem are rangers more prone to turn over?

i dont know for sure if they are, but they would be more likely to if they had a lift and stock tire width. and they are pretty narrow...ive never compared them to an X side by side but they do look like the center of gravity is higher.
i now have about 6 inches of lift on my X and ive never come close to flipping it or the pinion angles being a prob.

If i did the lift id be putting 33-12.50- tires on it

then itll be ok. make sure the backspacing is correct on the wheels too.
my friend has the stock size (or slightly larger) tires on it and it looks goofy, along with that the wheels arnt very deep.
go for it!

I was gonna try to use the factory rims but they probably wont work

it could be a little sketchy to have a 7 inch wide rim. its best to have atleast an 8 inch.
though it doesnt sound like an inch would make a big difference, but since its a matter of your tires staying on the rim it can be.

Just a suggestion but I've had some of the same questions...If you google Rough Country 4" lift for your pickup or something similar you can find the installation instructions and it will give you a general idea of what is involved and being replaced by different brackets, pitman arm, etc...and what will be the pros and cons if you don't make these modifications...I'd think 4" with 33's would be a pretty good combo...I'm actually going to run a 4-5" front with 33's on my prerunner ranger when I get that far...Right now I'm running just a x9.50 tire on mine and there's not an access of room between the tire and the tie rod end so you would definately want some rims with more backspace...Good luck!

due to the fact that my ranger is only 2wd and not 4wd I am only lifting it for a beafier apperance and not for it to function so you can call it a ''mall crawler'' if you will. looking at the prices of the 4'' suspension lifts i cant bring myself to spend that much money on a lift for my truck thats why i was thinking of going the cheaper spindle lift route i found a spindle lift with a add a leaf and 4 super lift shocks for $350 which is already pushing it for what I want to spend then i figured if it wouldnt be unsafe id try to sqeak the 1'' shackle and 1'' tortion adjustment in for a total of 4 inches then get the 33s and whatever rims will accomidate them. Im just not familiar with rangers so i didnt know if id get driveline vibrations or need to buy anything else to accomidate the 4 inches the truck didnt have before or would I be safer just leaving it at the 3inch spindle lift. I also dont even understand how that piece of metal lifts the truck up can you have that and twist the tortions bars. theres so many variables

If it's all done right, I think 4" would be ok...either way once your done it needs to go straight to the alignment shop because all the geometry will be thrown off up front...I don't think you would have to worry about a slip yoke eliminator or anything with 3-4" of lift (nothing more than that though)...Check out either Rough Country or Tough Country (can't remember which for sure) but if you're going to spend $350 anyway...They have a 4" lift for my 4x4 for around $390 and it comes with everything...I'm not a professional mechanic or anything but have done this stuff quite a bit on 4x4's...I think however you go about it, just stay 4" or less and go directly to the alignment shop once it's lifted and don't drive fast on your way there or you may experience the death wobble...should be cool...Hope this helps and good luck to you...

my buddy owns a shop we are gonna do all the work on a lift and he has a alignment machine there so im not worried about that i just dont want to run into any unexpected issues with what i plan to do. $390 is with the shocks too? if so thats a good deal

Hmmm i had a 96 cherokee with 6.5'' of lift and 33s and never had a problem are rangers more prone to turn over?

your jeep is a unibod so the center of gravity was a lot lower then a ranger. But now i beat the snot out of my ranger, its a 91 with 3" of suspension lift running 33 12.5 tires and with knowing the vehicles limits you will always be safe.

btw you can get a 12.5 tire on a 7" rim though its brings the ghey an 11.5 tire would be max for a 7" rim and this i have seen run through its paces with my buddies old dakota

this is what I was thinking of getting for my ranger to get the clearance for 33s and comments will it just be bolt on and go besides the alignment and if I feel i didnt get enough out of that then i was thinking of the shackle and tortion twist can you lift a vehicle with a spindle lift and turn the tortion bars or is it one or the other

Yea that includes shocks and everything but that's for my 4x4...I wouldn't think yours would cost much more or less but I don't know...
