how high can you lift before...

spring over axel. placing the leaf springs on top of the axel as opposed to the factory location under the axle. rangers and b2s are SOA while all explorers are spring under. a soa will give you 5.5" of lift but has some drawbacks.

FourO -

I did it all at once. From reading on here, I planned for at least 5.5" of lift with the SOA in the rear, so I got the 4" rough country lift kit for the front and added the coil seats. I was happy to see that it came out as planned and level. I've driven it now for about a month and it is still level. All the info I had came from here.

Ok so I ended up just going with coil spacers up front, for a 2" lift

and aal

plus warrior shackles

for the complete lift, its not done yet, only thing done is the Shackles, im waiting on my new shocks, called a few shops to find someone ready to do an alignment, they said i would need to have .... extended, he said it so fast i didnt hear him!??! what needs extended with a 2" spacer lift in front and aal/ws in the back?

You dont need to have anything extended. The alignment shop will more than likely need to install new camber bushings to get the cmber back in spec and adjust the toe but nothing needs to be extended with a 2in lift.

thats what i thought, and he got an attitude when i said it was only 2" front spacers, he was like "a lift is a lift, and I said NO" sears said they could do it... should be able to do it..

idk.. when i added 1.5 leveling coils and shackles (another way to do a 2 inch lift) and drove it to the alignment shop they told me i needed drop brackets, and they were right. the radius arms were binding up BAD and the front end geometry was all out of wack.

drop brackets for the radius arms and for the axle pivots.

you can see the front axle pivot drop brackets in this picture,
if its shiny and black its part of the lift lol

well **** i dunno then, the guy installing my lift supplies for me, might be able to tell me once he has it at his house, cause he has lifted other suvs and trucks, only reason im going with him... and he is cheap

It depends on the vehicle and how much adjustment is left on the camber bushings and such. New springs have to have time to settle so they will be a little higher when new.
The only way to find out if you'll need drop brackets is to install the spacers and take it to see if it can be aligned. And also ask them what in particular needs to be dropped?

Hey I work at sears:D

hopefully from everything im gathering, nothing will need to be dropped.... heres to hoping... a lil task, turned into a big task.. haha

lol thatswhat i fear! that 2" will keep growing till im happy, ROFL wish other things kept growing till i was happy!!:D:smoke::biggthump

I dont think he was talking about a female at all lol. Its normal, most guys lack somewhere, just some more than others haha :D
