1994, 4.0L, open dif, all stock. My gas guage pegged at full so I have to go by the odometer/trip meter till I find the ground strap. I just filled to the rim I need to know approx kilometers to a tank...

I drove up to Barrie from Niagara on full, got there, filled up again and it cost 21 dollars to fill it back up. That was a distance of 200km. That was on easter weekend. The gas has gone up a bit since. That was also highway driving. You'd probably do slitely better with 327s as compared to my 373s though. City would be a bit less. Mudding would be hard to tell. You'd pretty much have to go by time running instead of distance traveled. Probably around $10/hr here(estimate). I gotta fix my Guage one of these days too. Mine always reads accurate for a minute after start up, then slowly rises to full sometimes.

Unless I am going really hard, I refill mine after running about 400K. at this point there is still more than 1/8 of a tank left on my gas guage.

Open 3.73 here,

Stock I averaged 485-515 km. Stop and go city or 120 km/h highway crusing made no real difference.
Currently 450-470 km (uncorrected speedo due to 31’s). With Flowmaster cat-back and K&N drop in.

im running the 4.0L with KKM intake and the D4 LS rear end and 32" tires and i get about 330-350km per tank , after that i usually get to a gas station as quick as i can caus i hate walking with my trusty gerry can.

Huh. Mine has been pegged at full for years, and I just figured it was a sending unit problem. I'll have to check out that possibility! Should be an easier fix than a new unit. Does your gauge drop down to half tank or so when the ignition is off?

Sorry for hijack. ;)

I figured my tank mileage by filling up, then running the tank dry, while carrying a full 1 gallon gas can. I get 298 in my Ranger. :D

Yes my guage dropped to half when the key was off. I fiddled with the ground but that didn't work so I thought maybe the float was jammed at full because it pegged at full when I was off roading on steep banks so I filled with gas to the rim and went back off roading and climbed steep banks up and down and at angles and the last bank I tried was a 45 degree straight up and low and behold the next time I looked at it , it was back to normal and has been ever since...I think with all the climbing I did the float jammed on the float rod or something because with it being full it has a tendancy to rise and with all the shaking around it finally dislodged it. I did also take the harness apart and clean it and blew it out before I went back out climbing to fix it.
Did you notice what you were doing when it pegged full??

No, it's been over 5 years, lol. One time in the middle of a 14 hour drive to Moab, it started working as I was on the freeway, but only worked till the next time I shut it off. :(

It is definately a wire problem and not the sending unit..loose wire is all. Just gotta find the little bugger is all..drop the tank and take a look at the wires on top...don't remove nuttin'....just look at the wiring to put your mind at ease...could be simple
