How many splines do i have?

My axle code is 41.

3.27 stock gears. and my 35's SUCK

anyways im gathering up parts for my 4.88's.

how do i know how many splines i have?

ps. im in afghanistan so i cant go and look anywhere on the truck if i need to so much help is appreciated!

also i noticed some say for 3.54 carrier and up.

am i gonna have to find a truck with those gears?

i cant use my 3.27 front carrier on the dana 35 IFS?

The 8.8-inch Explorer axle use 31-spline axle shaft.

I won't swear to it (maybe someone else can confirm), but I'm pretty sure the IFS D35 uses the same carrier for all ratios (I know the HP D35 TTB does).

I swapped 4.56 gears in my stock 3.73 set up w/o changing carriers in the IFS D35. Not sure if that helps or not.

Your running 31 spline 8.8 in the rear, & 27 spline standard rotation in the front.

hmmm. im wondering if i should go 4.56 or keeping looking for a dana35 4.88 . i cant find one. and i dont wanna mix gears. thats a bad idea.

4.56's won't be bad at all, I'm a little overgeared with 4.56 and 33's but I tow that tent trailer.

I think hes talking about putting 4.56s in the front and 4.88s in the rear. But I do agree with you that if he put 4.56s front and rear that that would be good.

i meant 4.56s all around. 4.56 front and 4.88 = broken tcase.
