I'm new to this, I'm trying to find a really cheap way to get alot of bass in my 99 EB. i was thinking maybe instead of installing a new amp and new sub, just replace one of them, but i don't know if the stock sub can take more watts than the amp is giving out, or if the amp can produce more watts than the sub is can take. does anyone know?

I wouldn't consider adding a better amp to the stock sub, I doubt it would handle any more anyways. At the least I'd get an aftermarket speaker in the factory sub box, and get a new amp for it. For under 200 you could get a nice single 10 and an amp to power it. It would add a lot more bass than the factor box would have.

i like the idea of the sub in the facotry box, but if i get a higher wattage sub, will the factory box still be good for it?

why anyone would want to put something new in that POS box is beyond me... completely get rid of the stock sub. add in a new sub, a new amp, and a new box.

MTX sells a new box that fits back there and holds a largers sub. You may want to look into that. I suppose a better sub could work back there, but you'd have to find a sub that worked well in such a small area.
