i need to have my front seel changed, i just rebuilt my engine but i dont know the first thing about transmitions. its a 93 with the a4ld, how much do you think a shop would charge to change the front seal?

I assuming that you mean the front transmission seal?

Why do you think that it needs replacing?

I'm no A4LD expert, not even in the same universe, but a leaking engine rear main seal is far more common, and on transmissions, a leaking rear (tailshaft) seal is far more common.

...If a shop pulls your tranny it would be around the $400 range I believe just to swap this out...You could R&R the tranny yourself and save some money...

Is the tranny out of the truck? (Since you rebuilt the engine, I'm assuming that you got a look at the front tranny seal with the torque converter removed?).
