How Much HP can you get from the 4.6 Explorer???

Right now I have a 99 Mustang GT and because of other hobbies, I might be shopping for an Explorer XLT with the 4.6 V-8. I know Ford says it has 245 hp which is not far off from the 260 hp my Mustang has. My question is, are the engines the same and Ford has the Explorer De-tuned or are they different??? If they are different, has anyone put a 32V 4.6 DOHC in an Explorer??? If I don't go with the DOHC motor, I will be recieving another 99 GT 4.6 engine shortly that I will have built for the Exploder. I just need to see if the Pro-Charger GT kit will work with the Explorer accesories.

The Lincoln Aviator (same basic vehicle as an Explorer) has a 32 valve 4.6 and is rated at 302 HP with 300 lb/ft of torque.

All you need is the complete wiring loom, PCM, trans....

i can sell you a blower specificly desinged for your truck. a intercooled setup with a computer reflash.

The Explorer version is a SOHC while the GT is a DOHC.

GT's have SOHC just like Explorers, it the Cobras and Mach 1's that have the DOHC setup. I might just hold out for an Aviator then. I need to do more research but if the DOHC is the same as the Maruader or Mach 1, then much can be done to make it fast.

Blk Mk8, send me some info on the blower. Is it centrifugal, roots, or twin screw? Maybe my wife's '03 Mounty needs to get blown

the newer trucks have a lot of potenal, i have a lot of 4.6 customers making over 500 hp with 2v's. there is a lot things you can do with them.

Does the 5R55 trans last or do yo swap in a 4R70W and use mustang EEC?

i think that we can reprogram the ptec computer your truck has to work with the latest 4R75W tranny. i will double check for you ok, i will also check on the tranny because i know a couple guys running blowers on there 4.0 v8 birds with the 5 speed auto but they have built trannies with billit valve bodies. your truck will last a while though with a reflash just buy having less converter and clutch slipping in the tranny.
