I am planning on running 35s or 36s on my 92 sport and I was woundering how much lift would it require to comfortabaly clear them. And will the stock Dana35 need to be replaced? This thing is going to be sweet!

Well the highest suspention lift you can get is a 6". 33's will be able to make that. To fit 35's you would have to add a BL probably another 3 or 4 inches. Also try using the search feature on this website to get more information. I know there are people here with 35's.

And if you do it post pics!

If you want an off the shelf lift the 5.5-inch is the largest available. Explorers are different and tire size should be evaluated following the lift. A 35-inch tire is about as large as you can go with the stock D-35.

If you wheel hard and often and plan to go 35" or larger a custom suspension with a solid axle swap is your best option.

When you increase tire size, you will need to regear for 35" tires I would recommed a 4.56 ratio or lower (higher numerically).

Here is a couple of pics of my 93 sport on 35's. I am running a custom SAS with 4inch lift coils and clear the tires fine. I would say don't waste your money on a lift. You should buy a SAS kit from me and do it right the first time :D I do not run any body lift but I did move the axle forward about 3inches which let me lower my lift from 5.5" to 4". I know that with the superlift kit it is possible to run 35's but you will have to trim your fender some or just beat it in with a hammer ;) which ever works better for you....LOL

Yeah lots of lift is the name of the game. I'm runnin 5.5" suspension and a 3" body lift. I cleared 36s with stock fenders on and had room for 38s with fiberglass. I don't recommend you goin to 38s, I just did for fun while at the shop. And no pics of the 38s. :D But heres mine with 35s with stock fender and 36s with fiberglass.

Solid Axle Swap?? I already have a solid front and rear, why would I need a swap??? Could I reduce the hight requirement with higher offset wheels, because 35s would only be 3 inches higher from the axle than my stock tires if I clear the firewalls (when turning) with a high offset and fender flares (for legal purposes) could I get ayay with a 4.5 or 5.5 inch lift? In not why?

Thats debatable on whether the TTB is a IFS or Solid axle.. Most people here feel they Ford's first attempt at a IFS. If you plan on going to 33s or higher, definately re-gear your axles to atleast 4.10 at minimum.

My modifications are a superlift 5.5-inch, 33x12.5x15 tires on 15x8 (3.75" backspacing) black steel wheels. I have regeared to 4.56 axle ratio. I am prety happy with the results. I don't wheel to hard or to often. This set up is pretty much maxed out, I could go with a 35-inch tire if I really wanted to, but it would be hard on the stock D-35 axle.

If you wheel fairly hard and often and want to go with a tire larger than 33-inch, then you should consider a custom front suspension and steering system. A Dana D44 or D-30 is what most people use. If you do a search there are members doing the swaps right now with photos and detailed descriptions. The advantage is increased ground clearance, suspension artliculation, and axle duribility. The disadvantage is the up front cost.

The best advice I can give you is to use the search feature on this site, talk to (PM) members that have the set up that you are considering, make a plan of what modification you want to make and that you can afford, and get the best set up for your driving habits. Good luck.

i had a 5.5 in lift with 35s and it never rubbed
