so nobody knows how much lift they have i guess

Find a stock Explorer and measure the distance from the frame, top of wheel well, etc, to the axles and compare against yours. The difference is your lift amount.

old post i know but just encase someone see's it and has the same issue. i would guess find the stock height and then measure your height subtract. then find how much tire you have . then do the same for stock tires. then subtract the tires measurement from the ride height. the answer should be the lift.

You can get "close" by measuring how big the drop (axle pivot) brackets are and then compare them to a stock set. That will get you within 2" assuming its align-able.

Its hard to look at the pic and guess..

As a swag, it is somewhere between 2" and 4" but thats just a guess.

Why exactly is the lift amount so important? The real question is, "Will the amount of lift you have take care of what you intend to do?"

If you are shooting for some magic number for tire clearance or something, then you can just figure that you'll probably end up doing some sheetmetal trimming before you are done. I've not found that one can do enough lift on a 1st gen Explorer to fit larger than 33" tires without some extra work, and if you lift it enough to clear all the time, it will be so unstead on trails that it isn't worth the time and expense it takes to get it there.

So, that being said, why not get your tires and see how much trimming you have to do to stuff what you have without any additional lift, 'cause everything starts getting REALLY expensive if you go higher.

123, bolt on the tires and start cutting sheetmetal! :P

im just going to run these tires till they wear down but im going to 33's so i was going to build some shackles that are longer on driver side since drivers side sags and put some 1.5"-2" coil spacers in or longer softer coils. i havnt drove it with the jd coils but they seem real stiff

Just an FYI.. as far as standard lift coils go.. the Duff ones are actually pretty soft (2.5 and 3.5 lift coils, don't know about the 5.5's).

Not only will that look funny but may introduce some weird handeling characteristics. You may be better off just swapping the springs around, put the pass side on the driver side.

if i put the pass side on the driver wouldnt the pass side sag then? its about a inch lower on driver side
and when i drop the beams in front the only thing stopping them from going further is the coils they just dont stretch enough...has anyone ever put coil retainers like a jeep that would make it drop more
also i dont have much uptravel but id rather have droop

The reason you have the sag to begin with is the driver side carries more weight. It would probably be just about level.

Yup. Fuel tank is on the driver's side. At close to 8# a gallon, the driver's side is always going to sag a bit when the tank is full. More so if the driver is larger than the passenger, which happens a lot.

ok ill try swapping them over but does anyone have a measurement from hub/top of tire to top of wheel well for stock with 235/75-15? all 4 corners would be nice

i got curious after i bought the stock 94, so i did some comparative measurements to see where i was siting. i still happen to have the note right here as i never clean off the desk

measured from the ground to either the top or bottom of the lights.... ill be damned if i remember witch though

Headlights 33"
tailights 28.5"

from rhe ground to the bottom window trim on drivers door
42.5"

thanks man that should get me a close enough measurement
