The timing chain or the cam tensioner recall? If its the recall it can be done with the engine still in.. Just ask Howard, he's done the 00m12 kit a few times.
My explorer is 7 yrs old and has 95k on it, does it qualify for the recall? If it doesnt what should one expect to pay a mechanic to fix it? It has a little bit of a rattle ot startup.
You are over the recall by several years and miles... You may be able to get away with just the 00m12 kit. I have had the rattle since about 70k mi and I have just over 200k now. Some have not been as lucky. I am going to attempt to see if the kit will fix the problem. I think the kit is around the $40-$50 range. I dont remember...
Can someone explain the differences between these kits, and how they are covered under warrant? I couldve sworn that I saw one recall extended to 100K/7ys
Call your local dealer and ask them. I thought that it was a shorter peroid than what you said... Unless I missed it which I will be pissed cuz I may have been covered under it.
