how much will an automatic tranny cost for a 94 navajo?

How much will a new automatic transmission for a 94 Navajo run me??? Starting to make a clunk noise after throttle is released occasionally.

Mine was $2200 new and installed from a ford dealer on my 92 4x4 auto three years ago.

If you take it to a trans shop, expect to pay $2000 - $2300 to have it rebuilt.

If you can do the work yourself, Autozone has a rebuilt trans for $1300. Most junk yards will charge anywhere from $700 - $1000 for a used A4LD (depending on warranty).

If you are really mechanically inclined you can rebuild it yourself for $300 - $600 depending on what parts you will need to replace.

Mazda and Ford have used same trannys in their trucks. You can get a used unit from a bone yard for about $600.00 +- depending on the warranty... but if you can't do-it-yourself then expect to pay about $1,500.00 installed (used or rebuilt). I have a guy that sells rebuilt units but then he also charges core... still, not a bad price at $750.00 (core included) plus shipping ($75.00 usually).

I wont charge a core and will met him 2 hours from his house so that beats $825 But is about the same in gas!
