Well I have an Alpine 9835 comin in really soon. It has 18 RMS and 60 peak. Would some Infinity speakers that have a 90 or 100 watt RMS be too powerful for my headunit? Would these speakers need an amp help out since they are so powerful? Can someone please help, I'm pretty confused... :(

Those infinity speakers and their insane RMS rating just means that they CAN go up that high. Most speakers have a bottom end of RMS that is like 3W or so. The most you'll ever get out of your speakers with that head unit is 18 RMS, so most of their range is never going to be used.

In all honesty you have no reason to get those speakers, as you could get away with something with way lower RMS ratings unless you plan on installing a new external amplifier at some point for the speakers. And a relatively powerful one at that.

Hey bro... back in April I completely redid my audio setup. I put in Infinity's, and must say that I absolutely LOVE THEM!!! They sound great! And that Alpine head unit is bad, it will definitely get the job done. I don't have an external amp (yet), and those speakers still sound great. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yes, the rating on the speakers is max wattage that they can take from the HU. Remember the power comes from the head, and goes to the speakers, not the other way around.
