The seat in my 98 Explorer is fully functional, except for the forward and backward motion. It will go all the way back but only half way forward. I do not see anything in the track, do I need to replace the motor? If so, HOW?

Does the seat have the same 'limited range' of motion if it is all the way UP and all the way down?

The track just unbolt from the base, no big deal....4 screws to remove the seat, 4 more to take the track off.

Dude I cant explain it any better than I already have. Doesnt go all the way forward. How do I fix?

Dude, it's a relevant question. If it only does it when the seat is lowered down, it could be something binding or holding the seat. If it's raised and still doing it, there are some other things to check. Why when people try to walk through a problem do some have to snap them off?

3 Simple fixes

1) Take the power track off and just do without (or JY a non power seat)
2) Take the seat and track out to ensure that the motor, tracks, and other whatnots that create the motion are cleaned and well lubed.
3) Just replace the power track with a JY unit.

Could be that the motor is a little tired, but sounds more like a bind or a jam to me. I would for sure pull the seat( its just 4 bolts) and run it outside of the car to see for yourself what its doing. You may need to engineer an extender of sorts to get the 12v to the seat motors out of the car. Isolating the issue is 99.9% of the fix..
