Im sure alot of you already know this but i just did it and it was so easy It would have saved me alot of money spent on steering fluid if i did this before.

The kit was like $11 my shop price they had it in stock at Advanced auto
Ford calls it The "SECTOR" shaft or pitman arm I replaced it when i was doing my lift because well i had to remove the "SECTOR" shaft to replace with the new one. So I removed the 3 or 4 bolts in the drivers wheel well and disconnected the high pressure line from the pump, It was easer than from the box and the low pressure from the pump as well you might want to leave one of the bolts screwed in a little to help hold the box up. then there is a small bolt holding the steering shaft in place remove that then the whole unit will fall out.

Make sure you KNOW where the sector shafts position was when removed because there are 4 ways to replace it ( If you dont already know this is NOT were you straiten your steering wheel )

once on the ground remove the 4 bolts on top were the sector shaft cover is with a soft hammer tap the lower part of the sector shaft to remove cover.
Then Remove sector shaft. take out snap ring on the bottom then the two seals> MAKE SURE TO NOTE WHAT SEAL IS WERE AND IN WHAT DIRECTION

R&R seals & new snap ring replce sector shaft kit is suppose to come with a new cover seal but mine didnt my seal looked good but i put a small layer of rtv, you could also use a gasket making material and trace out a gasket.
you can also replace the small o-ring on the high side line and or replace both lines now because it is alot easer than up in all that tight mess.

sorry if i missed something it was a few days ago that i did this and i used my lift so sorry if it is a little harder on the ground.
just had to rub that in. good luck.

mines been leaking for about a week now so i might have to give this a shot

Not quite following . . . .

Are you saying that you replaced the Pittman Arm for other reasons, and it happened to fix the leak, or are you saying that replacing the Pittman Arm IS the recommended procedure to fix the leak?
