I put my door panel back on and forgot to put the bulb back in the white plastic holder and broke the bulb. I can't get the broken bulb out! Any tips on how to get it out?

Can you get a needle nose pliar on the broken part to remove it? I have done this before.

Good luck.....

Once on the show Home Improvement, I saw they removed a regular light bulb with a potato... of course Tim Allen got shocked because it wasn't unplugged...
maybe this might work if you have small enough potato.

I just had that happen to me tonight. I was replacing the bulbs in my door panels with red bulbs to match all my neons and I had broke it. Yes, there are very tight, all I did to get it out was get a little screw driver like the ones for repairing glasses and I poped out the broken end.
Tip: When removing a bulb grab the bulb and wiggle it side to side while pulling on it and it should come out.

Good luck!!!

thanks man, the only reason i never went crazy trying to get it out is because i was afraid of breaking it. well now i know i can get it out if i do break it. thanks again.

Did you take the door panel off, or did you just pry off the plastic lens? I made the mistake of trying to take it off through the lens, but I just couldn't do it. To remove the bulb you have to remove the door panel, then a quarter turn on the bulb holder and it comes free. It shouldn't be that tight in there.

To replace the bulb you do not necessarly need to remove the door panel. All you do is pop off the lense and you should see the bulb in its housing. The housing as two teeth that hold the housing and bulb to the frame of the door panel. Make sure the teeth are turned so it doesn't fall in the door panel and in the lock position then while pulling move the bulb side to side and it should easily come out.

i remover just the plastic lens. no matter what a did, it wouldn't come out. finally i used a pair of pliers, and bam, it came out. if i only did that a few months ago. lol

same thing happen to me.Dont be affraid to yank on it. There are pins that hold the door panel to the door frame. First unscrew the screws on the top of the panel and the two by the door handal then you can pop the pins out of the sockets by simply pring the door panel off.

I had this happen on both doors in 2 seperate occasions.. youd think I would learn :D

the way I solved it.. every time I almost shot glass into my eye, was grabbed the bulb by the remaining glass, or the lighting element itself with apair of insulated handled plyers... one time I completed the circuit, but no worries. It's best you dont do that tho lol, completing the circuit isn't good for yer electrical system.

after I got ahold of em w/o completing the circuit.. they came right out. and I won't be changing those bulbs again for a long time :bounce:
