how to? remove head lights lense?

how do i removed the headlight lenses/housing for a 93

Well I would say you have to heat it up in the oven like you do with the second gens, I'm not 100% sure. There are how to threads all over this sit just do a little research

I think you have to remove the entire assembly with turn signals and all. That's all one piece, so you take that out, and you should be able to remove the headlight housing then.

There are some spring clips around the outside of the housing, you may have to use a long skinny flat-blade screwdriver to push the little clips down to release them, they are on the side markers too, take the upper shield off, along the top of the grill, then you can see better where all those clips are.

reason i was asking, is this one and the cleaning thread i started, kind of combine. i was told to take off on a day that i knew i was driving at night, and fill the housing with bleach, just like an inch or so, just enough to cover the lense (laying down) and it would bleach out all stains and get it clear again, think there is truth to that?

makes sense... but i wonder about the penetrating abilities of the bleach getting into the plastic. that's the only part i question

yeah i thought of that to, im looking for a local company he has the housing in stock, so if anything goes wrong i can get new ones asap. on the other hand though, they are built to withstand so much pressure from a hit, so why not withstand a little bleach? (start with diluted bleach)

I mean, will the bleach be able to permeate the plastic to get to the stains. I have no doubt it'll be able to take it, but keep us posted.

im gonna try it this week, this weekend and next few days are really nasty weather. so as soon as the weather clears, im gonna play with it, start it diluted and watch the time on, ill keep updated

Swain - before you try the bleach (I know nothing about that either), check this out. I got mine apart on a different vehicle and simply used soap and water with a nylon brush to get into all the cracks and crevices. Rinse, dry, etc. Finally, spray the inside with a clear acrylic spray paint. They should come out looking almost as good as new.

i've actually wetsanded the outside and sprayed with a walmart clear coat, and they looked good as hell for about a month before they re-yellowed.

i'm just going to buy the clear lenses from ebay when I get a chance

the reason im asking

i thought about the clear light set on ebay, the three clear light parts, but, i was just to do the cheaper thing cause i know it cant last much longer with 215k miles on it, prob end up getting it the way i want it, lol and then ill have to part it out, has a lot of problems already with it, lol.


the reason i was asking is i got them "HID 5000k Super White" Lights for the truck, look nice, just nasty lense (they look blue.. lol)
