I was wondering how do you remove the overhead console, i was taking a look at it and found only one screw and i am wondering if there are any screws behind the light as well... if there is a picture post on this that will be cool, if not i will create one for new users of this forum and going to create instructions on how to install ford mobile ease as well in the explorer

thanks alot

No pictures, but I just took out the console in my 08 Mounty to replace it with one out of a 02 Mounty.
This description applies for the model without the moon roof as that is what i have.

There is one screw under the cover to put the garage door opener in. If you have the homelink system you will have to pry open that module to get to the screw.
That is the only screw there is. There are two taps towards the front near the light that holds the console up. Pry carefully but firmly with a trim removal tool and it should pop right out.

When you re-install, the steel clips in the front likely stayed in the ceiling of the car. If so, pry them down with a small flat screwdriver and snap them into the console. Then press the console back up and the pointed metal piece will bite into the ceiling post. Then just put in the screw in the back.

FYI, the reason I had mine down was to install the homelink module since mine didn't come with it. The wiring was not there in my 08 so I just tapped into the reading light power for it. I actually ended up keeping my 08 console and just replaced the flap door with the homelink module as the light buttons were sticky on the 02 I had bought used.

Hope this helps a little.

thanks alot for the information alan
