Well, the big EXPLORER decal on my windshield is now really old and its cracking and stuff pretty bad, so i need to take it off and get a new one i guess. Yesterday i was trying to take it off with a razor blade but i kept getting just little tiny pieces to chip off of it. is there a way i can peel the whole letter off at once rather than taking like an hour per letter trying to chip away at it? also what should i use for the residue stuff it leaves??

Uh...good luck man, is the entire thing one sticker or is each letter a sticker? Razorblades are the only way I have ever gotten off decals without damaging the windshield. You might try a chemical but I honestly don't know what I would try...maybe if you have some hydrochloric acid around...that should take care of it. :)

For the residue, just use some 409 or auto glass cleaner and scrub hard with a towel. That stuff should come off well with it.

actually each letter is a seperate sticker, i guess i'll just try scraping it off again and see what damage i can do!

That's the drawback to using a low quality vinyl for stickers. The sun dries it out and it's hell to get off. Where did you get the sticker? A store, or was it custom made by a shop?? If you go to a shop, there should be some higher quality vinyl made for vehicle applications. It might be a little more expensive, but it won't dry and crack up as fast as other vinyls. But, a razorblade is the safest way to get it off. As far as the residue, denatured alcohol or any ammonia based product (ie: Windex) should get it off.

get your next one made by lizardtrac

USE A HEAT GUN OR A HAIR DRYER TO HEAT UP THE DECAL THEN SCRAPE IT WITH A FRESH SHARP RAZOR BLADE AND IF ANY RESIDUE REMAINS YOU CAN TRY A PRODUCT CALLED

GOO GONE

Ooooohhh!! Goo Gone is awesome...I used to be a janitor and that stuff will get rid of anything. We used it on everything...nothing gets rid of crayon on tables and walls faster! It's got citric acid (right?) in it that kills everything. I can't believe I forgot about that.

Break the window and replace it under your insureance if you have the coverage! Probably would be easier

I know this isn't my thread but I have a relative question. When you buy a car from a car lot you know how they put those cheesy dealership stickers on them? What is the best way to get them off? Heat? Thanks

razorblade scraper or just ask them to remove them for you

I have been cleaning cars for some time now. A easy product that works great for getting stick stuff off windows in rubbing alchol. It rubs right off. And when you are done you can put it on your widowns and it works like Rain-X.
