Its not rocket science to replace the pump, but im sure this will help someone someday.

*Check your relays! Check your washer lines! I thought I needed a new pump, when it was a small hole in the line that I couldnt see. The 2nd gen relays should be right under the air intake tube in a small box. I believe there are 4 small relays, and 1 large one. The 2 relays closest to the windshield are the front/rear pump relays. (One pump, just spins backwards for the rear)*

*It is a VERY easy task, and should take under 20 minutes*

Needed:
-New washer pump *$28 at AutoZone, only about $5 cheaper on RockAuto
-11mm socket (Ill double check in the morning, it might have been a 10mm)

1. Remove the cruise control module, 1 bolt, unhook the harness and move it out of the way.

(Sorry guys im missing a few pics. Ill resnap them tomorrow)

2. Pull the washer pump out. It literally just pulls out; disconnect the plug on top, and make sure to get the old filter out. I used a flathead to pry mine.
*If you dont know, the pump is on the firewall side of the reservoir, its very small, about the size of a screwdriver handle*

If you have any fluid in the reservoir, it WILL drain out.

3. Now its time to get a pitcher of hot water, and flush the reservoir out. Mine had some random chunks of lord-knows-what in it but after about a gallon of hot water, she looked like new.

Now reverse the process. Simply push the new pump in place, reconnect the plug, remount the cruise module, plug that harness back in, add some fluid, and your all set!

:salute:

Very helpful for me thank you. Just got my 98 and noticed the reservoir for the rear wasn't where it was in my old 91. now all I gotta do is make my pump spin backwards. I'll try to help you with the cowbell.

I'm glad it helped! But yea the 1st gens had seprate tanks, which I like better (A lot easier to find any leaks you might have, plus I hate wasting my good ice wash on the rear window) :p:

A quick check with my VOM shows power present and reversing as you stated. Need a new pump. Thank you very much.

Thought my pump was bad, but it finally worked after pushing the button on the lever in kinda hard and then the driver's side nozzle sprayed out some fluid and nothing on the passenger's side nozzle and then just behind the right front tire, fluid just started to piss out.

Your destructions worked great, saved me the $18 for the pump, god knows what the dealership would have charged me and made me a hero in my wife's eyes.
Two additional notes: when I removed my pump the rubber screen filter stayed in the reservoir and had to pry it free then clean the gunk out of it. I've always used a little white vinegar solution in my washer water and curious if that may be the source of the gunk.
During the troubleshooting process I broke one of the hose T's up by the firewall. I replaced it with a T from a plant irrigation system you can get at any Home Depot. Lucky I had some hanging around.
Anyway, all is good and wife is happy. What more counts?

Glad this has helped a few people!

glad i found this write up to bad mines is still not working on front and i have put in new one still same results not sure
what it is i checked the fuses they are good i swaped both pumps new and old to test the hoses so both pumps work
when i swap the lines from front to rear front
