How do I replace the O2 sensor on my 91 EB4X4? My code scanner indicated #41, and my Haynes manual says #41 is the O2 sensor on the right (passenger) side. By reading other posts I believe there may be more than one sensor, but the only one I see appears to be above the 'Y' between the manifolds and the cat. Is that the correct one, and how do I replace it? Thanks.

Hey Mr. Mike, I have a 91 also, and changed the O2 sensor recntly and there is only one on the 91 and 92 models I believe, I think the Haynes manual says something about that. To replace it, the easiest way is to go to auto zone or advance auto parts and buy an O2 sensor socket for a wrench, its the easiest way, trust me. You could always go the cheap way like me, since you probably won't change it for a long time, just buy it take the senor off put the new one on and go back to the place you bought it at and return it, just tell them your friend let you borrow one or somethin. Hope that helped

Mr. Mike
I hope you have long arms. The plug is way up there behind the motor. I couldn't reach it(woman with short arms), i took it to a garage and they couldn't reach it either. My father and i finally took the hood off so i could get to the plug from the top. After unplugging it, i then used an opened end wrench to take the sensor off of the exhaust. Now you put the neww one on in the opposite order making sure not to twist the wiring too much. Good luck. It was a real pain in the ?#&#!

there is only 1 on a 91. it is right in front of the Cat on the passenger side. It can be removed with an open end wrench. The harness is located right alongside the tranny dipstick. Have fun getting it off the bracket that holds it in place. One thing i did find out is if you buy a Bosch from Autozone you will probably need to cut off the 2 plastic tabs to get it to plug into the harness. I just replaced mine about an hour ago and it is about a 30-45 minute job. Makes a difference though. Idle RPM went from around 1000 to 750.

Good luck!

Thank you all for the help. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I have been out of town for a couple of days. I am going to replace the sensor this weekend, and if it doesn't help, I am going to replace the fuel pressure regulator. I have cleaned the MAS so I think I am okay there. If none of that works I'll replace the muffler bearings and the hydroculator Dead Link Removed Thanks again.
