i may be about to try my hand at shipping tires for te first time. any suggestions on packing, shipping methods, etc? do i need to box them or anything? if it's any help, the tires are 225/60-16 (26" diameter by 8" wide).
i'm trying to keep shipping as cheap as possible since i've been trying to sell these tires for a year with no luck till now. thanks! :)

I'd use Greyhound or UPS Ground. I'd call them for packaging suggestions. Reasonably durable brown packing paper should be ok.

I'll take them west if need be....ohio, mighigan, indiana, illinois, wisconsin, or iowa, if gas is paid for and also some extra for time and vehicle wear
Only valid if i end up in boston. :-)

I'd ship them UPS ground in 4 cartons.

I looked into shipping five tires

Cheapest by far was FedEx ground- You dont need to pack it just put a lable on each one they will take them. All you need is two shipping labels - one attached to the exterior of the tire and they ask for a secondary label inside the tire incase the first falls off.

Call Fed Ex for more info.
Ive shipped a ton of stuff off my navajo, and Fed Ex ground is sooo much cheaper than UPS. Fed Ex ground, or good old USPS parcel post are the cheapest.

You may also want to check with Forward Air they have decent rates for heavy items- bad part is they have locations near airports, so you may have to take a trip to get the item tho the shipping point. I'm finding it hard to get 3 or more hours during business hours to take something to ship. But if you are close to a location may be a better deal.

thanks, but they're going to omaha. paying gas would be more than i'm getting for them, and still be more than them overnight. :p
