I just got a new 8.8 it is supose to be a 4.10 how can i tell the gear ratio. the metal tag on the diff cover is gone.
also has no axle shafts in it so i cant turn them to count rev. of drive shafts.

figured it out.

here is how i did it:

look threw the axle housing and you can see the slide pins then i counted the # of turs of the driveshaft it took to turn the slide pins 360 degrees. it was a little over 4 so i have my 4.10

Hey you can look threw the axle housing and you can see the slide pins, then count the # of turns of the driveshaft it takes to turn the slide pins 360 degrees. You should be able to determine it that way

:D :chug: :D

You could just turn the axle (or where the axle bolts on) until the rotors make a complete turn (and count how many rotations the axle made). Least you won't have to tear into it that way. :D
