I have a 94 XLT. I am not sure if the previous owner changed it to an R-134a setup or if it came stock with an R-134a setup. Any way to check?

Not sure myself either but one way to tell is to unscrew the caps to the service ports. If they have threads on them, they're R-12. R-134a uses quick-disconnect ports.

And in "theory" when an r-12 is covnerted to r-134 it is SUPPOSED to have a sticker on the core support stating it was converted and what oil and how much r-134 to use.. BUT, that only seems to show up when shops do the conversion (I didn't put the sticker on when I converted).

EDIT: I just noticed you have a 1994 which is the 1st year for r-134 from the factory... In you case, just look at the service ports as mentioned already.

Ok cool...I'll give it a look later....one last question...how much will it set me back to get it recharged in a shop?
