How well does the factory tranny cooler work?

my 96 V8 has a cooler installed is it decent? looks like a plate style so it should be...

gonna change out the fluid for 12 Qts of Ammaco syn blend mercon V today or tommorrow and maybe do the Jerry mod.

Why no full synthetic ATF?

The factory cooler works well; currently it is all I have on mine and Ihave never seen high tranny temp (monitorw/gauge) even towing a Jeep on a large trailer in the HOTTT Florida sun.

It would be nice if someone with a temp gauge could find out what is the running temperature with and without the tranny cooler. Or maybe, somebody has done the study on this in the past.

Mine averages 145 F on the highway in the Florida heat andarround 175 in town.

well what full syns are available?

the semi is 3.19 a quart and I tend to replace it out at 60,000 miles.


I would push a full syn prolly to 100,000
