Just wanted to stop in and say Hello! I am a new owner of a 1989 Bronco II. It's got surprisingly low mileage and is in great condition, considering that it's sat in a back yard since 2007. My first goal is to get it back to street-ready conditions. After that, I'm considering a 4wd conversion (currently a 2wd, 2.9L). Might spring for some new tires as well (a must if it becomes more than a toy). I'll check back in here when I have progress to report, and I hope to contribute to the forum!

Since you plan on doing a 4x4 conversion you should consider using an Explorer or Ranger's Engine/Tranny/Transfercase. That will get you 4.0L and a lot better performance. A step above that is a 5.0 conversion and matching drivetrain.
