Hi guys, i'm Ant from South Wales Just looking to buy my first explorer & can't wait. I drive a 2.8td frontera sport (amigo in the US) and I think its time for a bigger toy :
I'm looking to get a 1997-99 4.0 V6 2nd gen with LPG.
Anything in particular I should look out for??? & does the 4.0 come in manual in the UK???

Welcome to this forum! Look for an OHV V6 or 5.0L V8. The SOHC V6 has timing chain & tensionser issues. The transmission on the V8 is tougher too.

We only get th 4.0 SOHC here in the UK, but i've heard you can get a timing chain 'noise kit'???
What are they like for power tuning?? with 4000cc's of capacity i'm thinking big power, but i could be wrong
