I've seen leather get pretty ratty looking. How's your Explorer's leather seats holding up? And how are you taking care of it?

I bought my '91 about 4 years ago or so, and the seats were already torn on the back and the seat. Those are both the fronts, the backs were fine. They've gotten much worse since.

Mine seem to be stretching...

Mine's in pretty good shape, except for the seams pulling apart on the front seats, where the side bolsters attach to the seat. (common problem)

I use Lexol once or twice a year, and wipe the seats clean with a damp towel when I clean the interior.

mine are perfect, at 18,900K miles. Haven't done anything on them yet, should mosturize

I wipe mine down every 3-4 weeks with McGuire's and they are still in good shape at 30,000 miles. I have seen some with 30,000 that looked horrible so I think the wiping down does keep them moisturized and prveents cracking.

My 05 leather is looking great at 25,000 miles. My explorer spent it first 22,000 miles as a rental car in Dallas Texas. I'm just sure all those renters took extra care with the upholstery...right? I think the leather is pretty good, just be sure to use leather conditioner on a regular basis to keep it supple.

For whatever reason my driver's seat leather is really nappy, while the passenger seat seems great. It's not from use either, it's always been like that. The driver's seat has a 'dry' feel to it, no matter how much cleaner, etc. I use. I second the Magular's leather wipes somebody else mentioned, they're great.

I have to reccomend Lexol for this one, Lexol is a wonderful product and works beautifully! With it, my leather has stayed nice and soft and shiny. The only problem with mine is the tear between the seat and where the bolster goes.

My '02 has 48000 miles on it and the seats are in great shape. I wipe them down every few weeks with Meguiars Gold Class leather cleaner/conditioner. Works great on the leather couches in the house as well.

My 2000's seats are in great condition. I clean them with a two step cleaner/conditioner every 3-4 months. Keeps them looking and feeling great. I try to use Zymol, but its hard to find.

i have a 93 eb and my driver seat has just started to crack. i cant remember what i use but i clean them about every 2 months.

Granted the 2006-2007 Mountineer/Explorer is softer feeling "leather" but still doesn't feel like the real stuff. Anyway, I think Ford sells a leather cleaner and conditioner or at least used to that worked pretty good but if not try some of the stuff at your local parts store they are all pretty much the same.

My sister is going to be a freshman next year. I went up there this summer. Its a really nice area. I ate at the downtown mall at some little Italian place. It was really good.
