?? It's in the inlet fitting right? The lower tube?
What the best way to access it? When I try an open end wrench the line is bending.

Thanks

Stop what you are doing!

To separate the orifice connection you need two wrenches, one for the left (orifice) fitting and one for the right nut. If the line on the left twists, it will make it that much more difficule to not only extract the orifice but also to insert the new one.

Good luck!

That's what I'm doing. The line going into the heater box is starting to bend.

Which 1 is the part that twists off? The line or the line going into the box?

Thanks

A flare nut wrench is best on these fittings though not absolutely necessary. The bigger nut will twist free from the smaller nut. Maybe soak it in a penetrating lubricant and use flare nut wrenches and you will be good. DO NOT damage the line or you will be replacing it too. (And yeah I have at times just thrown up my hands and damaged something knowing it would add to my repair cost... but do everything you can to avoid that.)

The evaporator tube on the left contains the orifice. The nut on the right is what loosens up. If you should bend the evaporator line, you may be able to straighten it after removing the orifice by shoving one of those big phillips screwdrivers in it; speaking from experience.

Thanks I'll give it another go today. I don't remember it being this hard on my B2.

Ok I got it.
Thanks for the help. But now I think I may have to replace the evaporator anyway. It has what looks like a small pin hole in the tube. I don't remember if it was there before or not. Or if it's supposed to be there at all.

It's safe to say that there should not be any holes in the evaporator, pin or otherwise, besides those supplied with the tubing.

Rub it with your finger, maybe you are lucky.

Incidentally the easiest way to gain access to this tube is to remove the right front wheel and then remove the plast wheel well liner (you have to remove the air filter box above it first - at least on my 94, anyway).

Put a wrench on the smaller nut on the left and hold it solid, then put a wrench on the larger nut on the right, and unscrew it from the nut on the left.

What is the correct way to install a new orfice tube? Long end towards the evap. or the short end?
