Box I got from ebay w/ the wrong hub on it has part # "3L2Z-1104-AB WHEEL BEARING KIT" from FoMoCo. Any one can find out what that part belongs too?
Ford Parts Network says its for a 2002, so 3rd generation (which by the way are only $150 new  ).

I googled that part number AND entered it at FPN, and both came up w/ nothing! How'd you get that? Thanx, I guess it goes back on ebay!

I put it in the "Search by Factory Part Number" on FPN and it came up just fine.

I had to play w/ it a bit, but I finally got the info on FPN. I was searching from within the explorer page, and that was coming up nothing. Any way, any idea why they're so much cheaper than the 95-2001 assembly? There is a bit less mass to them, but they are very similar. Bolt pattern is just a bit off. But again, Jefe, thanx much for the research you did for me!

you should be able to get almost half of that off ebay.... i would imagine anyway.

Got a ? Paid a shop to replace the passenger side wheel bearing. A few months later starting hearing the same noise and feeling in steering but on the driver's side. Pulled the wheel bearing tonight, thanks to the info. here. Doesn't look bad. Not alot of metal shavings, etc. Any ideas?

replace it, it's easy enough. i replaced mine with a used assembly, but should last me a another good 40k miles at least. todd.

Looks like the new hub did the trick. Thanks again for everyones time on this subject. Saved my alot of money by doing it myself.

definately, and it's not that difficult at all. stick around on the forums a little, you might learn a little more, and might decide you like it. todd.

Do I change a 2002 bearing the same way. I believe the hub and bearing are attached on mine so is it the same thing?

Tera

Wow, a 2002 needs a bearing changed already?

yes. We bought the truck with 105K on it and we have put about 13K on it since. The RR one was changed in march and now the LR one needs changed. Both times were after bringing it 4 wheeling. One time at Pismo Beach and the other at a state park with a riverbed. We just need to know how to change it so we won't have to spend 650 bucks to some shop that charges 95 an hour grrrr

Yep, I mistakenly ordered one of the Gen 3 ones for mine. It's the same, but smaller. 3 bolts, plus the ABS sensor. Just follow the directions here and you'll be fine!

Well my husband said there was one bolt he took off. does that even sound familiar? He said he doesn't know what to do next. Do we have to take the axle off? Someone told us that. The dang hanes manual doesn't have directions and I would rather figure it out than pay 650 to have it replaced

Thank you everyone for your help

Just start at the beginning of this thread. It tells and shows all. The one bolt he removed was prob'ly the axle bolt. You don't have to completely remove the axle, but you have to remove that bolt to get the hub off.

Yep, there should be one large axle nut right in the center of the wheel and three smaller bolts on the back of the spindle that actually hold the hub assembly on. Then it just takes some persuasion to knock the hub loose. Good luck!

On this thread it says to take the nuts off and that gets the hub out. Does the whole unit get replaced. I thought we needed a pulley to get out the bearing?

No pulley needed, I just used a hammer to knock it loose from the spindle once I removed the CV half shaft. The hub assembly has the bearings and ABS sensor built in so yeah, the whole unit needs to be replaced. It's a fairly simple job to do at home but if it's your first time it might take a little longer as the nuts or hub might be frozen in place.
