2013 Ford Explorer Limite
Recently when driving my 2013 Limited (85k miles), there seems to be what I can only describe as a "humming" or "motor noise" coming from either the engine compartment or the left or left/rear of my vehicle. The first time I heard it, I thought it was the car behind me with its loud muffler but I hear it every time I drive. It almost sounds like when you get new tires with bigger tread (my current tires have about 20k miles on them). The faster I drive, the louder it gets. I hear it with or without the A/C running. If I shift to neutral while driving I still hear the noise. Again this only seemed to start within the last few weeks (my wife drives this vehicle most of the time). She only noticed after I brought it up.

I plan on taking to dealer as I have the extended warranty, just wanted to get some opinions on here first.

Thanks!

I'm guessing, but IF the noise is coming from the rear left of the vehicle, it could be a wheel bearing gone bad.

I wondered about that....would a bearing be covered under extended warranty? I have the best warranty they sell. Or is that considered a wear and tear item?

answered my own question...appears to be covered.

Is it the Ford PremiumCare warranty? If so, the brochure shows every thing that is and isn't covered.

I agree, sounds like a wheel bearing.
