2003 Explorer XLT V6 4WD has a humming type sound from front end when slowing and coming to a stop. Its not a grinding and it happens with or without the brakes being applied. It almost sounds like I'm on all terrain tires, but I have all seasons.

I've already diagnosed the dreaded rear axle hum/whistle, but I think this is different. Any suggestions

I had a sound like that and I changed the transfer case lub and that fixed it for me your results may vary LOL My Explorer same year as yours 70,000 miles I also have a new Jasper rear

did you go with synthetic for your transfer case? I switched my rear diff to Amsoil and was thinking about doing the same for the transfer case?

Did you replace your rear axle with Jasper part? How much did that run you? I assume that was b/c of the howling rear end. I've got that issue too and was looking for the cheapest way possible to repair.
