2004 Explorer Eddie bauer
Hello, I have read e few similar issues but under different conditions than my truck.

I have a 2004 explorer Eddie bauer 4wd with 4.6 auto transmission. I just bought it with 200k. Im noticing a humming and slight vibration which seems to be in the front passenger side. It sounds very similar to hitting the rumble strips on the side of the highway ands it starts at about 25mph and becomes less noticeable at higher speeds becoming almost nonexistent at around 65. I do notice it gets louder as I curve right and lessens as I curve left.

Im not very familiar as I've never worked on one bitt ot seemed similar to the issues an f150 of similar year might experience when the vacuum operated hub actuator is not fully disengaging causing the actuator gear to make contact with the axle spline enough to create the humming sound. I would like to know if the explorer hub and locking hub assembly is the same set up or if anyone might offer any suggestions.

Thanks

I appreciate the suggestion and I'll look into it. Do you know how the locking hubs work? I don't see an actuator and not familiar with the set up. My 04 crew cab used a vacuum operated hub actuator to lock and unlock the hubs. I didn't see an actuator, how do these engage or disengage?
