I am planning on buying a Hurst shifter in the next couple days and I need to know if it will work. I have seen all the threads and everyone says it will work. but they say it just screws into the stock screw holes in the trans but has longer bolts. the problem is that in the pics the Hurst shifter has 4 bolts:

but the top of my trans only has three bolts

this is the stock shifter repair kit with only 3 bolt holes:

the only way that i can think that it still works is that the 4 bolts you see on the top of the Hurst shifter don't go all the way through, and under the top piece of the Hurst shifter there are the 3 bolts that go to the trans. and I assume that that's how it works but I just need to be sure before I pay 200 bucks for a Hurst shifter

all help is greatly appreciated thank you everyone

The gold ring the 4 bolts go into aren't mounting the shifter to the transmission.

Those are just holding the shaft into the short-shift mechanism.

Your assumption is correct, the lower part you can't see in the pics has the correct bolt configuration to mount onto the stock tranny.
