2009 Explorer Eddie Bauer
My wife has a 2009 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition with manual climate control no dual zone, and rear heat and ac. The front fan speed only blows at 1 or 4. The 2nd and 3rd options will still blow but it is stuck at one until I turn it up to full blast on 4 and then it works fine. I have heard a clicking noise in the past from in the dash and have heard that could be the blend door actuator. I have also heard it could be the blower motor resistor or the blower motor itself. Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to buy anymore parts than I need to.

I am pretty sure you will need a blower motor resistor to fix the speed problem that is because its a very common problem item. The blower motor would be a surprise that it would be the problem. The clicking noise is probably the blend door but you would have other symptoms if it has failed though. I would start with the blower motor resistor its the cheapest of the parts and its only a matter of time before it does fail. it is also very easy to change yourself and you can save on not paying someone else. i will post a link to a instruction thread when I find it.

Ok found it quicker than I thought.

Thanks for the help. I'll start there first.

Yup, Blower Motor Resistor. Super common, and easy swap out. Just changed mine. Get it online and it's a lot cheaper than the parts stores, but we'll see what the lifespan ends up being...
