Hi guys and gals I'm new here
my name is Dino i own a 2000 ford Explorer and i love her
there i admitted love for little Billie as in the goat i bought her for 750 bucks
fixed a few things set a new tire shocks back window that's about it.
Now a little about me I am network technician so I do a lot of driving
i cover all of Arizona I live in phoenix one day i will be in Flag staff then the next in Tuscon anyway i put a lot of highway miles and get around 18 mpg with stock 5.0 aka 302 now here is my problem I want to up grade my motors performance and get a few more mpg out of her sounds simple just call up a performance shop order a cold air intake system or some headers wrong
the minute that i say the word explorer with a 302 my parts list just got a whole lot shorter I feel like the ugly sister
Hay let me tell you a story about me and my sister
say my name is explora and my sisters name is mustang
we are part of the Ford family Great family
Mustang !
she is the pretty one she can dress up in any accessory the she can think of
my be a pretty set of headers , a sexy top end manifold ,some sleek new skirt
then there is me Explora the best accessory i can have made my man kind
to fit me is limited to a programing chip
man i feel so ugly now i think im going to go clean mustang house now
do you feel my pain
what are the enthusiast doing to their v 8 Explorers please help me out
thank you Dino

damn near everything top end from a mustang (and cam, timing chain) will work on the explorer 5L. the thing is performance=$$$$. alum heads will set you back anyplace from $800-$1500. same with intakes. you might be looking anywhere from $300-$700. most times if you do a intake you will need to do both upper and lower (explorers have a round runner, most mustangs are square). throttlebodys are in the $150-$300 range (and that you will have to modify the throttle arm). then there's the big thing of either turbo or supercharger. thats when it gets real expensive because nobody makes kits for them anymore.
